Why Is My Face Swollen from a Toothache?

Hi everyone! I’m reaching out because I’ve been struggling with a toothache, and to my surprise, my face has started swelling up. It’s pretty concerning, as my cheeks look like I’ve been stung by a bee!

From what I understand, swelling can occur if there’s an infection or inflammation related to the tooth. When a tooth is decayed or if there’s an abscess, the body sends more blood to that area to combat the infection, which results in swelling. I’ve been using some over-the-counter pain relievers, but I’m eager to hear if anyone else has faced this issue.

If you have dealt with a similar situation, what remedies did you find effective for reducing swelling? I’ve heard that ice packs can help, but I’m open to any other tips you might have. What worked for you in managing the pain and swelling?
