What to Consider When Choosing a Toner for Layering

I’ve been trying out various toners recently and I’m eager to learn how others choose their favorites for layering. With so many options available, it can be a bit overwhelming. Personally, I prefer toners that provide hydration without feeling too heavy or irritating, especially since I have normal skin.

I’ve experimented with a few toners that are marketed as good for layering, but I often find myself unsure if I’m mixing the right ones. What do you look for in a toner when you plan to layer? Are there specific ingredients that tend to work better together?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and any recommendations you might have!

I totally get the struggle with finding the right toners! I’ve had good luck with hydrating toners that have ingredients like rose water or aloe vera—super light and soothing. When layering, I try to stick to ones with similar pH levels to avoid irritation. Also, have you tried using an essence first? That can really help with how the toners absorb.

Look for toners with soothing ingredients like chamomile or rose water; they can layer nicely without weighing you down. Also, avoid toners with astringents if you’re going for hydration. Mixing hydrating toners usually gives a nice, plump effect!
