Understanding Eye Discomfort After Crying

Hi everyone! I recently had a moment where I cried, and afterward, my eyes were stinging quite a bit. It made me curious about why this happens. Crying is a natural response to emotions, but the aftermath can be uncomfortable.

From what I’ve learned, the stinging is often caused by the salt content in our tears. Along with the emotional release, our tears contain various substances that can irritate the sensitive skin around our eyes, especially if we end up rubbing them. If you’re wearing makeup or have sensitive skin, that irritation can become even more pronounced.

Additionally, after crying, our eyes might feel dry, creating an odd mix of stinging and dryness. It’s a strange sensation for sure! Have you experienced this too? What do you do to soothe your eyes after crying?
