Mastering Skincare Order with a Minimalist Mindset

Navigating the right order for skincare products can be quite a challenge, especially for those of us with reactive or dry skin. Through plenty of experimentation, I’ve discovered that a minimalist, barrier-first approach makes a significant difference. My routine typically goes like this: I start with cleansing, then toning, followed by treating, moisturizing, and finally applying sunscreen in the morning. At night, I skip the sunscreen and focus on nourishing treatments and moisturizers instead.

When it comes to cleansers, I always opt for gentle formulas that maintain my skin’s natural moisture. After cleansing, I like to use a hydrating toner or essence to prep my skin for the subsequent steps. For treatments, I stick to fragrance-free options that are suitable for sensitive skin, like hyaluronic acid or ceramide serums. I always finish with a thick moisturizer to seal in all that hydration.

A helpful tip is to introduce new products gradually, especially if you have sensitive skin. This way, if you do experience irritation, it’s easier to identify the cause. And remember to patch test before fully integrating a new product into your routine! What skincare order or products have you found work best for you?
