I’ve been exploring chemical exfoliants recently, and I keep pondering whether lactic acid is genuinely gentler than glycolic acid or if it simply takes a bit longer to show effects. As someone with normal skin, I’ve had the chance to try both, and I noticed some distinct differences in how they feel on my skin.
Lactic acid has a creamy texture that glides on seamlessly. It exfoliates without leaving my skin feeling stripped or overly sensitive, which I really appreciate. In contrast, glycolic acid tends to have a sharper sensation, often feeling more intense and effective right away. However, I’ve experienced some redness with glycolic when I’m not careful.
From my perspective, lactic acid may take a little longer to show visible results, but it feels much more forgiving on my skin. It seems to support the skin barrier while improving texture and brightness. I’m curious to know if others have had similar experiences or if your results differ.
What are your thoughts? Do you favor one acid over the other in your skincare routine? Have you noticed any specific benefits or challenges with lactic versus glycolic acid?
