Many fragrance enthusiasts find themselves puzzled by the terms ‘perfume’ and ‘eau de toilette.’ While both offer wonderful scent options, they have unique qualities that influence how we wear them. Perfume, also known as parfum, typically boasts a higher concentration of fragrance oils, ranging from 20% to 30%. This concentration allows it to last longer on the skin, making it ideal for special occasions or moments when you want your scent to linger.
In contrast, eau de toilette generally contains about 5% to 15% fragrance oil. This lighter formulation is perfect for everyday use or during warmer months when a softer scent is more appealing. Because it has a lower concentration, eau de toilette tends to evaporate more quickly, but it can be refreshing and easy to reapply throughout the day.
I personally enjoy having both types in my fragrance collection. I find that perfume gives me a touch of luxury for evenings out, while eau de toilette is perfect for casual days or running errands. What about you? Do you have a preference for one over the other? How do you choose which to wear for different occasions?
