Hi everyone! I’ve recently been exploring gua sha and wanted to discuss a common question: Should you use it before or after applying your skincare products? As someone with dry, reactive skin, I understand how crucial it is to get this right, especially when focusing on hydration and strengthening the skin barrier.
From my experience, using gua sha after applying serums and moisturizers can enhance their absorption. The gentle strokes not only boost circulation but also help those nourishing ingredients penetrate more deeply. I typically start with a serum filled with ceramides and fatty acids, layer on a rich cream, and then use my gua sha tool to massage everything in. It feels luxurious and makes my skincare routine feel more intentional.
However, it’s important to be mindful of exfoliation. Overdoing it can lead to irritation, especially for reactive skin types like mine. If you’re adding gua sha to your routine, make sure to listen to your skin’s needs and adjust as necessary. What do you think? How do you prefer to incorporate gua sha into your routine? Have you noticed any changes in your skin based on when you use it?
