Does Tretinoin Trigger Acne Breakouts? Let's Discuss

I’ve been using tretinoin for some time now, and while the results have been fantastic, I’ve come across discussions about whether it can actually lead to acne, especially when you first start using it. This seems to be a common worry, so I thought it would be helpful to explore it.

From my own experience, I noticed that when I first added tretinoin to my skincare routine, my skin went through an adjustment phase. This period sometimes involves what’s known as purging, where you might see an uptick in breakouts before things get better. While it can be frustrating, this phase might just be your skin getting rid of old cells and making way for new ones.

That said, if you find that your acne persists or you experience significant irritation, it might be time to reassess your routine. Everyone’s skin reacts differently, and what works for one person may not suit another. Have any of you gone through this initial adjustment with tretinoin? How did you handle it? And for those who have continued using it, what improvements have you noticed over time?
