Can ceramide cream repair a damaged skin barrier on its own?

I’ve been dealing with dry, damaged skin for years, and I’ve gathered a lot of tips along the way. Recently, I’ve been thinking about trying a ceramide-rich cream to help restore my skin’s moisture balance. Ceramides are often recommended for healing and strengthening the skin barrier, but I’m still a bit on the fence about it.

Has anyone here switched to a ceramide cream? What was your experience? Did you find that it worked well by itself, or did you need to use additional products? I’m really curious whether it’s realistic to expect noticeable improvements just from a ceramide cream, or if a more complex routine is still necessary.

I tried a ceramide cream last year, and while it definitely helped with moisture, I found I still needed to layer it with a couple of other products for best results. Just using the ceramide cream alone didn’t cut it for me—I guess it works better as part of a full routine. Have you considered pairing it with a good hydrating serum?

I switched to a ceramide cream a few months ago, and honestly, it made a big difference for my dry skin. I did use it alongside a gentle cleanser and a hydrating serum, though. You might need that combo for the best results, but the ceramide cream really helped reduce the flakiness.
